Imperfect lines
What I’ve been working on
Hi everyone!
This week I’ve been working on overhauling how I plan, film and edit my videos. When you’re working a full-time job alongside doing YouTube, it helps to be really efficient in your systems!
One thing I’m trying to implement is ‘batching', the act of filming at least 3 videos at a time. I originally got this idea from Ali Abdaal. However, this does require a bit of effort and planning upfront to have 3 ideas/scripts ready to film.
Additionally, I’ve set very healthy boundaries (both in terms of delivery and margin) with my commitments so that I actually have the time to do what I say.
While batching might be a logistical challenge for the head, setting boundaries is a messy challenge for the heart.
I’ll let you know how it goes!
What I’ve created
This week I drew the drawing above which I posted to my Instagram. I saw the original photo in a free newspaper someone was reading on the tube and instantly felt compelled to realise it as a drawing! While I’m happy with the drawing, I do feel like my personal style is still lacking something of me. It’s a little too clean for my liking. I’ve been following the artist Frederic Forest on Instagram whom I admire for his imperfect, unfinished aesthetic in the way he draws his lines. Not that I aspire to copy his style directly but there’s something ‘human’ his drawings that I feel I haven’t captured in mine yet. But as this is called ‘The Process’, that personal style is discovered by showing up, making something and learning through doing.
Process over product. Onwards!
